History of the Kanway Autodrome

This Mountainous road course was designed by Mr. Jajantha Perera [Successful Businessmen from Sri Lanka] with the help of foreign consultants from UK. The road course was specially designed for the high performance vehicles and motorcycles which currently race in our Country [SLGT & SLN 1600cc] 600 -1000 cc motorbikes and 450 and above Supermotards. The 1.5 Km. track has 7 turns and features a 350 meter straight as well as a high speed banked [Turn 1] where you really get to experience what a supercar / superbike can do at speeds well above what’s legal on any road in the Country. Many successful events were conducted during the initial years but then along the line racing was confined to other venues and the Kanway circuit ceased all activities and was neglected for over 3 years.
